Amazing how your Avatar makes peoples minds think (well my mind anyway)

You scan along the thread and an Avatar attracts your attention and the way you think about the poster

So just wandering about your views

I believe Ziggys is his own photo (possibly not as I aint got a clue about famous people, in my ignorance it may be a picture of Alan titchmarch or some famous gardener)
My Avatar is me scruffy after being submerged for 12 weeks without washing and pleased to breathe fresh air (and young)

    What brought this about
Well JWK really, I have always noticed the original to me JWK Avatar and ventured into his site etc
Then recently it has changed to Ziggy with a black wig, I think Oh oH NOT going there with a barge pole

No offence JWK Just what it conjuors up in ones mind :-)

Just like life really, you see some guys at work OMG then find out that they are really very nice people once you know them

One guy at work with Civil Serpents, long hair Storm T shirt jeans , broke and grazing for food at lunch time, fed him for a few months got to know him and he IS one of the NICEST persons in the building

Nurse nurse are my meds ready yet

      Good subject Jack.

I think it's difficult to work out the person behind the avatar. My favourite one on GC at the moment belongs to Steve R. It's a giraffe that pops it's head up and winks at you. Makes me smile every time. :)

My own avatar, a chaffinch, was taken in Scotland at Shin Falls and my previous one was a statue for Robert Bruce, my hero!

You've probably worked out by now I love Scotland, particularly it's history. :)

Sorry, JWK's pic is my fault, he posted pics of his fancy dress party on Facebook, I spent a day feeling like Chandler from Friends when he wasn't allowed to tell jokes, I so wanted GC to see it but was powerless:DOH:

I know what you mean about the Avatars Jack, when I first joined here I had a rather threatening pic of my mate as an avatar.[IMG]

People saw past it quicker than you would think.:dbgrtmb:

It is odd how you associate people with the picture they've chosen as an avatar. Even if the person in the avatar isn't them. :heehee: I think it's a subconscious thing. Mine is one I made, of one of our sheep and ducks. I use a different one on each forum I belong to.
The most recent is one of me blinking. [IMG]

That is right, in the sense that even if the avatar does not portrait the account holder, the fact that he/she has chosen it must imply some sort of communion with it.

As far as posts and wording are concerned, it does take quite a lot of skills to convey exactly what you mean in a post, and often, when you ask some further explanation to the poster, you find out that your perception of the meaning is fully wrong.
Of course I am Italian and I have to work double hard!

Just to make an example in Italy we are quite friendly naturally and ask many questions and use wording that for an uk English person may be perceived as highly something, whilst for us it is not a big deal (same with the songs).

Also, the written mode of expression in a post it is not like a chat where you can ask explanations immediately, you are stuck with it sort of thing.
