A few years ago I started off with a nice Azalea which came on tremendously. We were most impressed by it. We decided however that we could do with pruning it a little. Not wanting to rush into it and wreck it, so to speak. I took advice on a Gardening Forum and was told to prune it down to about 3 inches.

It seemed a bit drastic but we were assured that it would come on again, even better than before. Sadly after pruning it down to 3 inches we have never seen any new growth. It is now almost two years. The plant is not dead in the sense that the wood is still green and supple, so what I am wondering is, do we still have a hope of seeing it recover and /or what is there that we can do to help this once beautiful Azalea to begin growing again? Can anyone advise us? Many thanks for all and any help on this. Cypher :yho:

Mollis (deciduous)azaleas don't like pruning. If there are still signs of life leave it. It will sprout from the bottom. It will take time though as they are slow. Feed it next spring with the appropriate azalea feed.
Go punch whoever gave you that advice :)
