Azaleas>Rhododendrons, are acid lovers. Specific brands of fertilizers will be suggested, according to the writers preference. Basically products with say a formula of 10.8.6 That is 10 parts Nitrogen. 8 parts Phosphorus and 6 parts Potash. Many growers will apply such a feed/feralizer around the start of autmn and mid spring. Remember the Rhodo family are what are known as 'surface rooters' so be careful if raking granular feed in.

As Mike says Azaleas and Rhododendrons like acid conditions. Mine get the occasional handful of blood, fish and bone and a yearly mulch of composted pine needles. These and Camellias form flower buds over the summer so don't let them get too dry or you will get no flowers next year.
If the manure is well rotted it should be alright.
