Not sure if this is nationwide but multi-purpose compost is reduced to £2 for 60 litres @ the Trimdon Street store in Sunderland.
I picked up 3 bags, might go back for more.

Good price @ 3p/L, if buying 125L (ouch my back) bags using an oldies 'Diamond' card on a Wednesday it works out @ 5p/L. Normally £3.76 or 8p/L. Always worth checking out your local store if passing as B&Q sometimes do some amazing instore clearance deals.

If you get some for next year, cover with a solid plastic sheet (all round) as there's loads of perforations in those bags that water, worms and all sorts of things will get through. I don't use outdoor overwintered compost for seed sowing, but save it for potting up.

I would avoid using MPC for sowing altogether. Seeding compost usually does a better job. It is more expensive but I don't have too many seeds to sow so a small bag per year is enough

I'm not so sure about B&Q compost this year. The consistency is still quite good, but I'm finding that once potted up, my plants just aren't growing well. It's all so slow. Won't use it again.

At this price I am going to buy 20 bags and dig them in the beds. Use them as soil improver

I only ever use Wilkinsons multi-purpose at £1 for 15 litres. I can't get to any garden centres/B&Q's etc.

I find that the Asda MPC is very good and the price is great as well ;)

70 litre bags and at present they are selling them for £4 each or 3 bags for £10

I use Humax MPC for seeds if I'm sowing them in soil. I personally dislike seed compost as I find it too heavy come pricking out time. Side by side, sterilized MPC gives me better results.

I always use a good Seed Compost for small seeds, but revert to MPC for larger seeds such as peas and beans

I'm mixing my B&Q Verve MPC 50:50 with JAB MPC (the stuff that was on special offer at Wyevale and bought using both multi-save and money off vouchers) which I found rather coarse and fibrous by itself, but everything is producing good rootballs in it, none of that soil falling off the roots as you got to plant out/pot up.

Like this, not potbound, but sufficient roots all the way through the compost to hold that compost together when removed without great chunks falling off.

Some people sow more seeds than others!

I think you're right as I went to a smaller branch in Sunderland today and they didn't have it @ the same price.
