Well even though the weather has been up and down again; today has been nice and warm here even though we've had showers, our back garden has been literally 'buzzing', there have been hundreds and hundreds of bees of several species; the raspberry flowers have been covered, the ceanothus hedge has been alive with them, they're quite simply every where ~ brilliant.

Here's one I managed to get a photo of before it buzzed off

Today our garden was absolutely alive with all manor of insect life (before the storm anyway), we had bees everywhere, hoverflies in good numbers, ladybirds, dragonflies, damselflies and quite a few butterflies including large whites, red admirals, small tortoiseshell, holly blues, speckled wood, painted lady, meadow brown and a new one for me a ringlet :dbgrtmb:

Nothing quite on that scale, but I'm pleased to report a half decent turn out in my back garden today too. A fair few bumble bees of varying types. Loads of hover flies, and the odd butterfly. I'm pleased despite the numbers being lower than most years, because up until now there has been a distinct lack of wildlife round our way. I'm just glad to see healthy bumblebees kicking about.

Well, it's the Teasels that the Bees, Hoverflies and Butterflies were loving today. There were groups of Bees on everyone and when they flew off another group took over as they were on shift work!:snork:

..........and then it was hopping :snork:

I had a walk round the garden last night after the storm had cleared away to leave a lovely sunset and there were young frogs everywhere, counted at least 30 on the bottom lawn :dbgrtmb: alone and they were also in the veg patch, a few on the patio and even 3 or 4 in the greenhouse.........now go eat those slugs :heehee::snork:
