These jolly gardening shoes were featured in the Telegraph a few weeks ago. I thought they sounded good, so I bought a pair, and I like them so much I have just ordered another pair in a different design. Thought I would share the link! http://www.backdoorshoes.co.uk/
Oooh, these look good, Jen. I've lost track of how many shoes I've ruined by 'just popping out to the garden' and ending up doing some messy gardening job or other.
Digressing... In my late twenties, I was a store manager for one of the big retail chains. My store was used as "a tryout store." Potential new lines were displayed promenently and the reaction and sales were guaged to see if the line was worth stocking in all stores. The lines chosen were mostly ladies fashion, dresses, skirts, blouses etc., as sales of these could be very volatile. One one occasion one of these "tryouts" was a line of resonably priced, smart, ladies suede casuals. The disply team spent an hour or so arranging about a hundred pairs in different colours and sizes in a prominent position at the front of the footwear department. I and the buyer who'd come down specially to see the line stood at a discrete distance and observed the reaction of passing customers. One old couple were passing when the woman gestured to her husband to come back to look at the shoes. "Look at these George! I think I'll get a pair of these." The buyer looked at me with a bit of a smug smile on his face. But she went on, "They'll be ideal to wear for going down to the bin." I smiled, did a half turn and went back to my office.
:thumb: Now those look really nice jen... I have had a pair of this for several years now & they have been great, they are hard enough on the sole to dig in as they are not so soft as your, but mine are very comfy also, but those jazzy looking ones look so much more cheerful than mine... !
I have a pair of cheap imitation crocs that I use in the same way, I leave them outside the backdoor and the rain just washes them clean... I have even worn them in the river whilst critter catching, they only cost me £2 from primark and have lasted 2 years now .Best of all....they're bright pink!!
I've got a pair of green-welly-coloured ones that I bought from a garden centre at least ten years ago. They were one of the best things I ever bought for gardening and are still going strong - I wouldn't be without them. Yours look a lot smarter and shinier, Jenn, and I bet you'll love them for years too.
