I am getting a new window put in my kitchen and to get the window put in with being on the 3rd floor up i am going to have to take all my climbers and suspended pots down so the window can come over my balcony. I have a arch against my kitchen window and that too will have to go it has my vine and various climbers growing over it, how can i do this should i cut them back then dismantle the arch, just dont know were to put all my pots, my new window is getting put in april or may. :(

Rosa, having fitted many many windows I have never found the need to harm plants. I would expect your arch can be undone and moved away with not much problem. To remove and refit a window I would need only room to stand up,inside and out.
What kind of window do you have...all wood /wood frame and metal window??

hi pal, the window at present is wood but the new one going in will be pvc, i have put a lot of tresel all around the front of the balcony and that will all have to come down to get the window over the original balcony, its going to be hard to move the arch as i havnt got a great deal of room, maybe i will have to get someone to move it, i will put a pic up of what i have done to my balcony. and all the wood tresel i put up the climbers are growing.

Blimey rosa, i'm afraid i can't offer any help but just want to say well done! What a balcony.

I hope you don't lose any plants but it does look like a difficult job. Pal will probably be best to advise you.

    Good luck.

Wow!..That is going to be some task. I'll hold my hands up and admit that I have never had quite so much greenery to deal with Rosa.
Is it a full height, ie floor to ceiling or a waist to head height?

hi pal, the balcony is a bit higher than waist height and i put that wooden trellice all around for my climbers, in the middle i suspended two boxes and it goes from the top of the balcony to the very top, going to have to take that middle bit out for a start off then go from there.

hi helen, pal was saying they might carry the kitchen window upstairs so iff thats the case i will just have to move the arch away from the window, lets hope so cos pulling all that trellis down at the balcony is going to be something else and my climbers will go with it.
