Hi, a few months ago I went a bit mad with a weedkiller and now have numerous what were yellow patches on my lawn. The patches have now gone brown and the grass is now dead with moss and weeds growing back. My lawn looks awful and my missis is giving me grief to get it sorted.

What can I do to remedy this? Can I simply re-sow with grass seed?

    Help please!!!

Ooops! Went a bit mad, did you? don't worry, I'm doing that all the time!

What you do is this: get yourself a bag of grass seed from the garden centre. Scruff up the patches with a hand fork and get rid of the weeds and moss. Fork over the soil and refresh it with something - lawn feed will be okay as long as it doesn't say 'and weed/moss killer'. Dig it in. Then scatter the grass seed over the top. Water it lightly every couple of days - every day if it's very hot. You should soon have a nice patch of young green grass to cover up your mistake!

Others might have alternative suggestions, however! We often do on here, variety being the spice of life!

BTW welcome to GC. Hope you enjoy your visit(s)!
