I have just made an impulse buy in the market today of a bamboo - Fargesia murielae for £2.99.

I know nothing about bamboo. I have googled it, but I would appreciate any personal knowledge, such as is it invasive (the picture on the label shows it in a pot)? Is it really as hardy as the label says down to -30C? And can you grow it as a hedge as the label says? And will it really encourage Pandas to my garden? :D

it's the "polite bamboo", Peter - non-invasive. I've been trying for ages to paste in a link from Architectural Plants - but can't get it to paste for some reason...... have a look there - doesn't mention panda-attraction factor, though
