I bought my first bamboo last year , Dwarf Bamboo Rufa . Very very pleased with it , it looked the part by the pebble pool with the wind rustling the leaves. Well winter has come and gone with several cold snaps , gales , frosts etc. My bamboo leaves now look a little worse for wear , all the ends showing a white leaf burn. Probably a very basic question , but as it is an evergreen will the leaves regrow , fresh and green ?

    TIA

Funny story , I have a fargesia in my garden that took 5 years to reach 7 feet , every winter loose all leaves and look almost dead , but every spring the leaves are growing back , 2 years ago , my mother in law come to my house while I was away and decided to surprice me with cleaning the garden ........first thing she did was cutting down the dead looking bamboo .......

yes your leaves will grow back soon

It will be fine HarryS, give it a mulch or some growmore/chicken pellets around the base it will pick up in a few weeks. Mine has some new growth I noticed today!

So will new leaf growth replace the old leaves , which I can then cut off ? if the leaves don't replace it will look very sad in two or three years . I have just put a BFB and compost mulch around it , I can't notice any new growth yet.

I'm not a bamboo grower, I must admit, I only have a couple.
But I dont think the stems grow new leaves each year.
You should hopefully get new stems grow up, with new leaves.
