I have had this bamboo for forever (think it came from @roders) and I have not been able to tend to it. How should I thin it out ... cut all the dead stalks?

    Thank you.

    Hi Vicky
It’s a Phyllostachys Aura type and will grow and grow .
It needs more room to spread it’s roots
You will need to cut out all the dead shoots but be careful some may appear dead but lower down are still alive.
Water well and if it gets out of control get a Panda.
    Take care.x

Hello @Victoria, some Blood Fish and Bone or other fertiliser will also help. I'm going to feed mine in the ground when it stops raining!

I chuck my grass clippings on my boos. When they get unkempt,(the ones in pots) I hoick 'em out, use a hand saw to cut vertically through the roots, repot and wait for them to recover

I've got one looking as disheveled in my garden...will probably hoik it out and off it goes in the council green bin. Don't want to take a new bamboo to my new garden, with the wet Welsh weather can imagine them growing out of control

Hiya Rod. I love Pandas. Hope you are all well. xx

I read a post by Woo from years ago and he said he cut his back to a foot ... so I had J cut the above and one (can't remember name) which I have had longer than yours.
