Looking towards neighbour.jpg Looking away from neighbours.JPG We have a raised vegetable bed approx 4.5m x 1.5m, that butts up to our neighbour's fence, and last year's results were very poor. Earlier this year we realised that the neighbour's bamboo was invading us in a big way! There are four or five main roots coming into the raised bed, the thickest being about 1.5cm in diameter. At least one of these roots goes almost to the end of the raised bed. There are many offshoots that terminate into quite a bushy mass, obviously we had been watering and feeding the next door's very healthy plant! The neighbour has said he will block off our raised bed with a sheet of aluminum after I cut off the roots. However, what happens to the roots that are left - can they carry on growing even though cut off from their 'mother'. Do I have to remove every single piece of root; probably an impossible task. How do I stand if our neighbour cannot or wont do anything else about the problem? Presumably it is coming into our garden all over the place? Any help gratefully accepted.

It's the thicker rhizomes that can sprout so you need to get those out, the fibrous roots are not so bad.
