Oh, Babe, that's a bit like a "chilling" horror movie.

Hope the cold snap doesn't last long and that the plants are old enough to survive. [IMG]

things are not good are they BM?
Its been pretty cold here the last couple of nights as well, lowest I've had is minus 3.
I always think that as long as the daytime temps are above freezing we have a chance, think its been up to about 4 or 5 today, but the frost has persisted on the ground in the shade.

Lets hope we get those horrible grey skies from the east that they are predicting, not nice but at least they might stop the nights getting so cold.

A bit warmer here last night, 5c but the day temps are dropping and that coupled with a cold easterly on the way doesn't help. :(

I think you have it colder there BM than we have, but not a lot. Certainly colder than last year so far. I was hoping that the g.house would be up by now but it's running about a week late. My water butt had a layer of ice on this morning but it did melt by 2 p.m. Last year we didn't get any ice on it at all. I only have less than a week to live with a houseful of plants though.

Hope they survive. It's the light levels in the house that are the problem, obviously not the temp 'cos i make Mrs Sarra sit up all night with a hair dryer pointing at the puyas.

I'll be watching how this winter treats your plants BM and maybe then I'll be bave enough to venture out to get a tree fern or two although by the sounds of it I may have to resort to getting them as big as Bob can afford......and who say's size doesn't matter? :D

Helen. I'll let you know how my small TF gets on. It stayed out all last winter, which was mild, but it's in the ground this year. The trunk was about 2 feet when in the pot, now about a foot, but if it survives, it was only £8 at Wilkos, early summer 2006, so was very good value. I don't often buy plants at Wilko 'cos they don't look after them but this looked OK and was a bargain (especially if it gets through to another April.)
