Been thinking about buying a banjo for a while now.
I'm sure I'll take to it fairly easily, as I play guitar. Looked up some chords used when playing it and they look easy to learn.
Just finding it hard to put hand in pocket, as they are not cheap.
My big worry is I'll lose intrest and it will collect dust in the corner of the room!

You'll love it, Fonzie! Just remember to put a sock in it when you're practising! Mr D did that.... it takes a lot of perseverance, but it's well worth it.

If you think you might lose interest, just go along to a Bluegrass Festival, go to the concerts and workshops there, and you'll be so full of enthusiasm you won't dream of giving up! Have a browse
    here

    and you'll never look back!

You go for it Fonzie ! Two of my sons are self taught guitarists and when they play for me here I am usually relagated to tambourine but I just wish I could play something. Try Ebay if you haven't a lot of funds. And, if you don't get on with it, sell it back on Ebay. What have you got to lose ? Good luck [IMG]

And, of course, we all know the duelling banjos in Deliverence. Brilliant.

Yes, that's a good idea. Did look on ebay and I think the cheapest was about £100.
Weather or not the cheapest would be a good one or not, I've no idea.
However, I shall give it some thought.
    Cheers.

Hello Fonzie - Inshould try your local auction rooms, banjos often come up for sale and quite cheap. Much more a 'picking' instrument than used for chords although the ols skiffle bands used them a lot.
