I have just come in to cool off ... it's 29oC but feels more like 39 when you're gardening in it! Only mad dogs and Englishwomen are foolish enough to be out there!

I did get some things accomplished, however. I repotted my three lemon grass roots, which have taken off like wildfire and are about 50cm tall already into one large pot and sat it down by the fig tree, which is in a pot, by the way, under the almond tree, which is not in a pot as it's about 40 foot tall! The figs are ripening quickly and I have to pick about two a day (I only have about 18!) which I'm drying in the sun because I don't like fresh figs!

I also cut back an Anisodontea capensis to about a foot. It is actually three planted as one but had got far too straggly for my liking. We had uprooted it last evening and put a Senna pendula (Christmas Rose, Christmas Cassia, Golden Showers) in it's place. It's evergreen and blooms all autumn/winter/spring; just starting to get it's flower buds now. It came out of the pot the lemon grass is in now.

T'other half says I move plants around more than most move their furniture!  [IMG]

I have glugged three glasses of cold water and am now on the fourth! [IMG]

We're having Mexican tonight so will have to go make up some of the salsa I've put in the recipe section.

Hope you are all having a nice day! [IMG]

I wonder Lady of Pleasure and Leisure is it T'other half who does the garden out there in sunny Portugal while you spend time on GC, oh, and making the salsa (yum, yum)? :D

Not a bad idea really as it sounds a bit too hot to be 'slogging' in the garden! [IMG] [IMG]

Have a very fine day yourself and enjoy the Mexican tonight!!

    Kind regards
    Roy

No, Roy, t'other half is not a gardener by any means of the imagination, although he's getting very good at the names these days!

I'm deceiving ... I sign on in the morning and log out around midnight ... to and fro in between things to have a look on GC, see what's going on! [IMG] You've got to keep your eye on some of these folk, you know! [IMG]

I'd invite you for a bit of salsa and tacos, Roy, but don't think you'd make it in time!

Hope you have a nice day too! [IMG]

Oh, I see! Funny that - seems that so many of the male partners in the marriage are just not interested in gardening (just the lawn, if you have one). Another example of this type of relationship being Wildflower who threw a bucket at her other arf for hoeing out the hop plants!

Mmmm... I'll give this some thought, for whatever reason.

    Over and out for now.

    Kind regards
    Roy
P.S. thanks for the invite tonight. Maybe another time... I'll bring some of my home-made chilli sauce!

Ive been digging out an Escalonoia, LofL, and replacing it with my new Tamarisk [IMG] Its SO gorgeous, I have to keep going up and feeling it  ;) Not quite such hot work but tough job!

Let me know when youre going Roy, and I'll join you - I LOVE Mexican!

PS - My hubby is a disaster in the garden too. I have been admiring, and meaning to take a pic of, a small red sedum next to a, I think, Mimosa - lucky planting result - guess what....he lopped the tops off today with the r***y strimmer!
Love him to bits though [IMG]

Many of you have joined GC since that date but we were eagerly awaiting the 1000th member to sign on and there was great jubilation when it actually happened.

Here we are one year on and and GC has reached member number 2514!!!

Will be more than double that by 2007 Nathan?

marge - I have degardened a very large escalonia, or rather got tother half to do it. I am tempted to do another one too.

And LoL I move stuff round too, if you have made a mistake then don't be frightened to correct it, if you have mad a BIG mistake then don't be frightened to degarden it!

Marge, I love Tamarisk ... not sure how they'd do here and not sure I've got space anyway! :D

    Love the faces, jjordie ... great! :D :D :D

Waco, believe me, I've no fear about moving anything at any time ... :D ... or bin it ... unless it's REALLY, REALLY nice then I offer it to friends with larger gardens!

Heavy showers and a bit breezy here, about 20C at best, the heat wave is just a memory now.
Autumn has come early this year.
