I was in Aldi today and they have packets of summer bulbs for 99p each. Asiatic Lilies, gladioli, freesias etc.
Also small garden tools are on sale for £1.29 each - they are very strong and look like stainless steel.

these cheap shops are fantastic value. I got 2 roses for £1 in Poundland last summer, to rescue them, and one is really nice (t'other died, unfortunately) - and at the end of the season I stock up with hanging basket bits, and propagator bits and pieces for 25% of the orig price at Wilko - pity there isn't one near where I now live!

The lilies I find are too small to flower this season, so maybe only good for investment rather than instant.

I paid a visit to Lidl yesterday and they seemed to have the same bargains, I bought some gladiolus Callianthus, 30 in the pack for 99p.I think I will have to wait a while before planting them though the soil is frozen at the moment.
