I just thought I'd post to say that my BBC Dig In seeds had arrived although I was going to post on original thread but I can find it and it appears that the search function isn't working for at the moment:scratch:

    Anyway my pack contained:

    Beetroot "Boltardy"
    Carrot "Early Nantes"
    Tomato "Gardener's Delight"
    Lettuce "Lollo Rossa"
    Buternut Squash "Hunter"

It also included a sticker sheet and a small pocket sized info leaflet with a 2 page diary spread:thumb:

I think I may have sent off for them...months ago though. Don't remember!

Judging by those seeds, apart from the lettuce, isn't it a bit late for sowing now?

"it appears that the search function isn't working for at the moment"

I think the search may only search the forum you are in (by default) [although that may be different forum software that I have encountered elsewhere]

Either way, I always use the Advanced Search that definitely doesn't do that.

I sent off for my seeds the very minute it was mentioned on the programme as I was sitting at the laptop at the time and that was ages ago and have had nothing through the post, not even an email to say what the holdup was:(

I have had a look at some other forums and the members on there were saying that thousands of people had applied for them and because they had only 10,000 packs then they were over subscribed but I noticed on Fridays programme from Malvern they were still giving them away, though they did mention that more packs had had to be ordered and everyone would get them by the end of May{but not what year}.Well it is a bit late as I have had to go out and buy a couple of Squash plants because I have mislaid last years seeds and if I did get the seeds at the end of May it would be too late to sow them so now my plants are going to be put out over at the allotment this week all being well.Just hope we don't get a late frost:oops::D

Glad to hear that peeps on here have got theirs though:thmb:

PS,one chap on one of the other forums had had tow lots of seeds come as he had ordered them in both him and his wifes names. Now why didn't I think of that:dh::lollol:

I think they would be fun for kids to grow - local junior school perhaps? (Although growing season spans summer hollls which may not be ideal)

I also applied straight away but got this email last Thursday:-

    6th May 2009
    bbc.co.uk/digin
    ------------------------------

    Hi there

It's the BBC Dig In team here, we're emailing to let you know that there's a delay in sending out your free seeds. We've been inundated with thousands of requests and have had to order more to meet demand.

Your seeds should be with you by the end of May. This does mean that you'll be a little late getting started so you'll have to be careful with your tomatoes. You might want to grow them in a greenhouse or in pots that can be brought back indoors if the weather gets cold or perhaps save them until next year.

We're very sorry that you'll have to wait a bit longer and we hope that you will go on to enjoy growing and eating your veg.

Got mine today although it's not looking good for timing, but will still give the butternut squash a go and the rest will be good for my next sow or next year :)
