Don't forget to check out the programme on BBC2 tonight (Friday 22nd Sept) at 7.30pm. Its about the history of the Oak with respect to the British Isles.
And before this a documentary based upon the wildlife off the coast of lovely Cornwall.

    Kind regards
    Roy

Sorry - saw it but didn't record it. Both programmes were interesting lovely pictures of Cornwall- though I would have liked to see more about the oak and wildlife rather than its uses to man.

I watched the tree programe about the oak and the one last weeek about the yew. Have to say that I was disappointed in both. When you think about the many magnificent ancient oaks and yews that we have and all the folklore, mythology and wildlife associated with them - surely they could have done a better job. One guy is well intentioned, but dull and the other one just wants to climb into the trees for no clear reason. Great opportunity missed.

I enjoyed the programme about Cornwall - purely due to the fabulous pics of the scenery/sea/wildlife!

Agree with Hornbeam about the oak tree programme - the real subject was not covered whatsoever. Why bother making the programme, I have to wonder?

    Regards to all...

I do agree about the trees programs- I was disappointed to see more presenters than tree facts and pictures. A common problem these days.

Oh dear Pete the Moderator... in my thoroughly humble opinion, even though I do love the radio, books, mags, hardlandscaping catalogues (sad maybe but the beautiful pics are such a buzz particularly when gleaning whilst lying in the bath!) oh, and the internet (not whilst lying in the bath)... there are SOME programmes on the box that just should not be missed, if at all possible!!
Each to their own Pete, each to their own...

I rarely watch tv these days - and generally find I've missed whatever was worth watching. Can't say I regret it that much.... When I was little I used to be heart-broken if I missed Daktari - but I'm a big girl now....

Doesn't look like I missed much by not seeing this trees programme after all :D

Sorry Royster I didn't mean it like that.
I was just pointing out that the TV aint what it used to be, and most of the progs I used to enjoy watching have been done over and over again, I think the problem is down to there being too many channels, they dont know what to put on to fill them all up. [IMG]

Dendrobe, I thought Daktari was a cream that you put on your skin if it was irritable??

Pete, I only have the 5 basic channels so not so much of a glut for me. What I tend to do is record the occasional programme I think would be of interest and then when I rise at 2.30am or some silly time I watch the recorded stuff. Its almost like something to look forward to, in a strange sort of way. But apart from that, I have learned lots of things over the years by doing this so my life is all the better for it!

    Its all good fun!

Well Fancy, I try me best but often have me moments!
However, why "water down" the TV choice with God knows how many channels when I have the cream of the crop?! Although, you may beg to differ?

    All the best!
