Wow!!!! Better not show Mr HB!!! He has wanted a masonry bbq for ages - ever since our last holiday in Greece (eeek - 11 years ago!!!) We are now in the middle of having our garden landscaped (terraced), and having a sun patio put in, where by the side in pride of place was going to go our masonry bbq. Unfortunaely, everyone he talks to pooh-poos charcoal bbqs and say go for gas. Now he's looking at gas ones, which admittadley are easier and cheaper, but we do still like the masonry ones..... and by you picture, he may be persuaded back.....

Fantasti, Mona Lisa. We've discussed turning our old bread oven on the kitchen patio into a BBQ ... if so, only hope mine looks as good as yours!

Hope it gives you some inspiration ... we use sarments (old grapevine cuttings) to cook our food on BBQ's here .... as well as being easy to get the fire going, they give flavour to the fish or meat etc.....M-L

Hi, Mona Lisa, it's me again! Interesting you say about the grape vine cuttings ... they use fig leaves here to wrap sausages om amd olive branches to cook on.

Can't tell terribly well by the pictures, are they Impatiens (Bizzy Lizzy's) on either side of the fireplace and what's that on top? Can't keep BL's here unless in almost total shade.

Yes, Bizzy Lizzies, the wall behind covered with Vigne Vi©rge (virginia creeper) and a maple tree in front, keep the bbq out of direct sunlight so the BL's do well there .....the other plants are geraniums (balcon) ....M-L
