Maybe twilight rather than light, but becoming noticeably later than the dark days of December, and also seeing sunrises/sunsets moving northwards every day.

111 cells (cheaper than pots and more efficient use of space) sown with seeds sitting in heated propagators indoors, and over 200 pots of bulbs in polytunnels.

Cries of courting foxes, different wild flowers appearing every day/week, even some Red Red Kites have already been spotted grasping tallons.

      Hoping for an early spring.

I know it is merely an oversight ... taken away, such as you are, by the extended daylight (and how fab that is too!) ... but, for me, on a personal level ... it is the sound of the dawn chorus returning that signifies the greatest changes! :wub2: As the days lengthen, the stronger their song becomes and it is with huge delight that I welcome their tones :wub2:

I think the two go hand in hand @BeeHappy

Not noticed the dawn chorus yet , it's getting light at 07:30 around here . I do enjoy it when it starts . Never thought what time of the year it begins and ends ? I certainly never notice it after late autumn . When does it start and finish GC twitchers ?
I really don't miss the stoopid fat wood pigeons who sit on the aerial outside the bedroom at 5am with their mind numbing mono call ! :snorky:

I will never understand people who complain about the birdies waking them up early with their chorus.... for many years, I have worked at various times of the day and night, and one of the best things of a morning (bar none) to me, is hearing our feathered friends giving it 'laldy' as we say in Scotland.

We are very lucky where we are in that we are in a suburban location, but on the edge of the countryside, and we have developed a fairly loyal 'following' with the local wildlife (predominantly birds and squirrels) which I am happy to encourage.
