........my lawn has produced dozens of these mushrooms?
What's wrong with my lawn and does anyone know why they have grown? Are the dangerous to my kiddies?

It's perfectly normal, and a good sign of a healthy soil. They're sometimes in symbiosis with a nearby tree, decomposing something in the ground or they can just appear for no apparent reason!

Just pick them and dispose of them as they come up.

Some maybe poisonous if you eat them, so just don't eat them!
Some you can eat but be VERY SURE you know what they are before putting them in your dinner.

For more info I wrote a post about them last autumn:

Wow.....that is some write up!!!!! Thank you for replying. It has certainly out my mind at ease and I have no intention of eating them :-) think I'll just pick them out tomorrow and dispose of them.

    Thanks again
