Hi there chums. Well, you know how it is. The sun starts to shine and you start thinking "I might pop down the garden centre and get that plant I wanted" Well, £200 later I have this little collection. I particularly like the Grevillea ( Olympic Fire) as shown in the second pic. That'll be going in the 'tropical' area. I also managed to pick up Acer 'Garnet' as recommended by capney (Robert).[IMG]

Hi DEE. Not shown in the pics are a few bits n pieces (compost and 'stuff') that always seems to push up the price. For instance, I bought some Rose Clear, that was a tenner ! As for the garden, it might LOOK like it's filling out, but it still looks empty to me. As soon as it starts to get going properly, I'll post some pics :thumb: Cheers...freddy.

:) Hey Freddy, what a wonderful time you must have had today. :thumb:

Firstly, I have adjusted your posting to put your pictures in line with the screen.

Secondly, I can't comment on prices there as it's been so long. However, I do have that Grevillea ... or one similar .... I think mine in G juniperina but not sure. It looks like yours and hasn't changed much in the years I've had it. I bought it from the Ventnor Botanical Gardens when I lived on the IoW. It blooms beautifully each year but I just wish I had space to put it in the ground rather than keeping it in a pot.

Have fun finding 'homes' for all your goodies. :)

Sounds like my kind of shopping trip - money to spend in a garden centre. But I always feel guilty spending that sort of money and put half of it back, dither around trying to make up my mind and then come home wondering where on earth I'm going to plant all of them! Lucky you :)

Have fun planting them all - almost as much fun as buying them!

Hi Vicky. Yeah, I love spending money, almost as much as the Mrs does ! :) Thing is, I'm not a patient man, I therefore like to see things moving along. BTW, not sure what you mean about the pics, they looked ok to me when I previewed them  Anyway, thanks :) Aaron, I don't feel guilty at all, we're only here once (so she tells me) :D Cheers...freddy.

BTW folks, the area shown in the first pic is getting a makeover. It's a very small area, but currently it looks horrid as it's no more than a slab of concrete with a shed on it ! Dunno what I can do about the shed, it has to stay, but the rest I'm planning to give (if I can) a Japanese 'feel'. When it's done (for those of you that are interested) I'll post some pics. Cheers...freddy.

    Hi Freddy!

Wow I can imagine that small space is going to look fantastic by the time you and your tropical collection are done with it! I'm quite jealous :P, I want a little space to play with too! Hopefully when we move house I will get what I want.

The plants look fantastic by the way.

A Japanese area will be great Freddy, Looking forward to seeing the pics, have you any plans of how to incoporate your shed into the theme?

Hi DEE. I have no idea at all how I can incorporate the shed. Like I said, it has to stay. I had thought of using a climber, maybe a passion flower. Only thing is, I've tried growing a passion flower in a pot before, but it didn't seem to work very well. I'm open to suggestions as to what to plant or other solutions to the shed problem. Cheers...freddy.
