Beetroot Wine....

I haven't made it for several years now so it will be a welcome change this winter.. We never touch it till mid December by which time it is delicious & then it just improves with age...!!! :yho:[/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] Beetroot Wine[/FONT][/align]
    [align=left][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Ingredients:[/FONT][/align]

    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]10 lbs beetroot [/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]juice of 3 lemons[/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]2lb Sugar[/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]6 oz raisins
      [/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]½ oz cloves[/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]1 heaped teaspoon cinnamon[/FONT]
    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]1oz fresh ginger mashed

    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]1 teaspoon yeast & 1 teaspoon of yeast nutrient

    • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]10 pints cold water[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Method:[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Mince beetroot coarsely, put in a pot with the water. Add ginger, cloves and cinnamon and leave for 12 hours.[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Bring to the boil and boil for 10 minutes.
    Stir in sugar after 30 mins..
    Stand to cool..
    Strain off liquid and add lemon juice.[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Stir.[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]When it has cooled add yeast & yeast nutrien[/FONT]t..
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Put into fermentation jars..[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Bottle when fermentation has stopped around 2 1/2 - 3 weeks

    ooo thanks for the recipe. will pass that on to hubby, he loves making wine. only grew a little beetroot this year, so will make sure we plant more next year for wine!
