Beginings of a tree or weed?

Hi all you lovely plant experts,
A very dear neighbours cherry tree was cut down but I managed to salvage some fruits and planted a couple of pips in a pot. I am delighted that something grew looking like a little tree. However, this morning I have discovered an identical plant growing in the front garden, so makes me wonder.......
My neighbours tree was next door but one.
Any thoughts? If they are little trees, how should we proceed?

Oh he he thank you for that! Shame its not the cherry tree, but interesting

 

I gave a friend a sunflower seedling, told him it was a marrow and that he'd have to pin it to the ground as it grew

You'd probably find a Cherry grown from seed would give bitter fruit, best off buying a cultivar

 

Not for the fruit really, this particular tree was always full of long tailed tits, such a shame, why do people hack down trees?!

Usually as the birds poo on their cars while eating the cherries

 

seen someone attacking a tree with a jcb (scoop and all).. slowed down to pass and gawp at the idiot!
