Bergenia

    I want to move this Bergenia to a better position but the stems are long and straggly. If I cut them back would it regrow.
    I'll probably loose next year's flowers but I don't mind because I want a more compact plant. But I don't know if it would regrow if I cut it back.

    I haven't come across this problem before with bergenia so I am not sure, but its either take the risk and cut it back or plant it deeper. They are quite hardy plants so probably will take the cutting back

    Best thing is to divide them and discard those woody stems. You can divide them with a spade, you need at least one growing point on each division.
