I planted lots of bergenias(elephant ears) in my garden two years ago, all in different situations, some in shade, some in sun. I have never had any of them flower. Loads of leaves. Does anyone know what am I doing wrong please??

It could be that your soil is too rich so they are making lots of leaf at the expense of flowers. Check also that you have not planted them too deep, they prefer to be plnated shallowly. Thirdly are they all the same type or different species/named cultivars? If all the same you may just have divisions of a 'bad'plant that doesn't flower well of at all.

Thank you for that- it has given me a lot to think about - they all all the same species - they were all bought together in a plant auction! and, yes, some of them are divisions that I have made from some of them, so maybe a "bad " lot as you say!
