I'm looking to plant a shrub, or a collection of shrubs that produce berries that the birds would be interested in eating. As I'm new to gardening I thought it might be best to start with something native, something that would require minimal knowledge or attention.
Is this necessary? Would a plant native to southern Europe or America for example grow fine here once germinated? Can you recommend any plants at all?

    Thanks in advance. :gnthb:

Two to start with would be the Rowan tree or Mountain Ash and Holly. Birds flock to both to eat the berries.

Why does it have to be native to south Europe?

Southern Europe was just a bad example because I'm in the UK. I meant that it's far away and a different climate. Edit: In fact, I'll fix it so it makes more sense.

Thanks for the 2 examples too.
