One thing you hope you never need is car breakdown cover . Once again RAC cover is due , once again the fee has gone up 30%. Now all I do is phone them up and we have a game of " You reduce or I cancel". I am a little tired of playing this annual game.
Who would you recommend to give a reliable cover, there are lots of them now. I need a two car policy with car relay return to home. I was considering Green Flag ?

    TIA

Can't really help you :noidea:. We have a two car membership but get lots of freebie extras because we have been with the AA for 52 years :old:. So can't really give you a comparison price for the same services. They even sent me a golden anniversary present leather bound atlas. Then made it not quite so good by having fixed inside it a large, square magnifier. Do you think they were hinting that I am old? :snorky:

You can often get good rates if you take breakdown cover out with your main car insurance.

Been using LV with their cover from Britannia rescue but not had to call on their services, but if you search on the breakdown providers reviews you get a general idea of the better ones.

Think you also have to factor in your recovery area; if you are doing lots of touring in the more remote parts of the uk , then perhaps the bigger companies will have better service coverage ..??

I get AA cover with my car service each year, I know I'm paying for it in the price of the service but you get screwed either way you do it.

I get Green Flag cover with my insurance and it's always cheaper by doing so. I was with the AA for a while until I discovered that they had automatically renewed the contract at the end of the current one.....they'd also added full European cover plus one or two other services without even asking. I only noticed it when I saw my Bank Statement and that the AA had taken £385. When I rang them up and asked for an explanation they didn't even apologise but merely stated that, at that time, it was standard practice to automatically renew the contract without informing the client. I told them it was illegal and unauthorised and wanted to cancel the contract and wanted all the money back. They returned the money the next day without even an apology and I've never used them again, but I wondered how many times they had pulled that trick without it being questioned.:dunno::snorky:

I think you are right there @ricky101 . I like to think who can I rely on if I breakdown on Shap four o clock Christmas morning . I'll call the RAC and ask them for yet another price adjustment !

I can't help here but have to say that breakdown service here is automatic with car insurance which in itself is cheaper here than there.

Had a look at QDOS very good price for two cars. They don't cover Ferrari, Maserati, or Lamborghini , which may leave a good proportion of GC members out

The AA for me. I haggle for EVERYTHING. Did so as a 11 year old for a bicycle!! :)
I enjoy the "game"........my car insurance is due soon and I will haggle. I have a great mobile deal at £4 99 a month incl data, free mins and texts. Saved thousands on car deals. I recently bought a swivel reclining chair and saved an extra chunk off the "already reduced" and "cannot possibly go any lower" price.
Haggle folks....do it without embarrassment and demand not ask for discounts :rasp:

Not for me I'm afraid, Verdun.:dunno: I was with the AA for several years until their premiums started to rise and were only kept down by my haggling with them. I always kept the contract to 12 months and then waited for a quote until on the last year they automatically renewed my premium and then sticking on a load of add on's to my normal comprehensive car which then was only around a couple of hundred pounds When I checked my Bank Account the AA had taken out, without my permission, nearly a thousand pounds. On ringing them up they used the kind of talk that is used for Village Idiots, [I failed that job application], and said it was policy now to automatically renew polices without contacting the customer and that the add on's must have been approved by me. I demanded cancellation of the contract and immediate return of the monies, which they did, and I am now with another company at a greatly reduced premium. They send me a higher premium quote every year and, so far, I have kept the premium to the same cost as it was when I first left the AA and joined them:dunno::snorky:
