Best compact camera ?

Does anybody use High end compact camera ? I know the dslr are better. I would like a better camera have a Sony WX350 which is tiny but ideal to carry around on motorbike / walks etc I got a new phone a few month ago which is as good if not better in some circumstance than that my Sonywx350, so a camera much better than my phone is what I am aiming for.

Got a budget of £200 -300 ( used camera ) ideally less, spring coming and I have plants to buy
I've picked a few out which I think maybe what is suitable all with 1inch sensor - Sony Rx100 MK3 or MK4 ( lens 24mm - 72mm / F1.8 - 2.8 ) - Panasonic LX15 ( 24mm - 72mm / F1.4 - 2.8 ) - Panasonic TZ100 ( 25mm - 250 mm F2.8 - 5.9 )- Canon G7x mk2 ( 24mm - 100mm / F1.8 - F2.8 ). anyone have any experience with these cameras ?

I normally take picture of the garden with close ups of plants - landscapes - wildlife - I try taking pictures of the moon but fail miserably - the sun ruins lots of my pictures so a ND filter I believe would be handy, but which camera out of these / other would be better for me . I am unlikely to use the video.

 

All my recent pictures were taken on a Lumix DMC-TZ60. Those more than two years old on a Lumix DMC LZ7. As were all my videos. With the latest camera it has a Leica lens, you can zoom whilst videoing and it has wi-fi but I don't bother with that. Both are quite robust, I've dropped both on occasions. Lots of pre-sets for particular types of shots, if you want them. Zoom on both is excellent.

I really didn't need a new camera, but I decided that I'd keep the old one in my golf bag to occasionally photograph wild life when we're on the golf course.
I thought both were value for money. I can use the same Lumix computer programme can be used for both cameras.


As the DMC-TZ60 is now an older model, you can get one new on eBay for £120.

I've had a few of the Panasonic Lumix TZ superzooms, they take very good images but have a habit of sucking dust into the lens (+ then onto sensor?) no matter how hard you try to prevent it, which ruins all future shots.

If buying one suggest from John Lewis with 2 years warranty, but in case getting dust inside isn't covered I'd strongly advise getting accidental damage cover for £20 at time of purchase, so if it happens, accidentally drop your camera down some hard steps and get a new one.

 

Prior to going on my trip to Alaska I did about 9 months of comparing and contrast of cameras. I finally settled on a Canon zoom. It fits a little shorter than the palm of my hand and as wide as my hand. The zoom on it is amazing. When in Alaska I got picks of bears from far away that you can see their fir. Recently, in the Bahamas barely seeing a Crane in a shrub hiding with my eyes, I aimed the zoom and pointed it at the area hoping, sure enough have it so well can see the perfect feathers. Its easy to dial around, still learning more about it. But so far good. And does really well with micro for my flowers. Also has a movie thing on it, with a stabilizer built in. I rarely have opened up the flash as even in dusky light seems to work fine. So for me, love this choice.
