Long handled lawn edging shears - I use them to trim the neighbour's hedge (as well as the lawn).

I also think a long handled hand fork is the best all rounder, for weeding, raking, turning soil, moving bark mulch around and searching for my secateurs in the bin .

I have only a small green house and found one of these extending poles for hanging shower curtains from in the garage. Used it in the greenhouse near the top for suspending hanging baskets from.

Don't know if you'd class these as gadgets but tripod ladders are great on uneven ground. Long reach hedgetrimmers - heated propagators the list could be endless . I keep hearing good things about powered secateurs mostly kobalk something like that . Probably one if not my favourite tool is a bob standard border spade I don't like using proper spades unless I need to.

I'd agree with the border spade @Perki. I have the one my father used - so it's probably about 70 years old! He used to sharpen the edge to cut through the ground - it was sharpened so much the corners have rounded! But it's great for cutting through difficult roots. I occasionally put it and other tools into a bucket of sand and oil to try to look after them.

My most useful tool in the garden was not even designed for outside use. I believe originally it was the go to broom for hairdressers.
One thing you become an expert in with having horses is sweeping up. The heavy bristled wooden brooms are ok for just the occasional brush up but otherwise they are hard work to use for long periods of time
The Sweepa broom is brilliant as the heads are made of quite soft rubber and make sweeping up a doddle as so light. I have a long driveway that collects all sorts and the sweepa brush is a god send, can also shift water if turned upside down. The other of my go to tools again not really intended for garden use is a horse pooper scooper, excellent for collecting up garden rubbish on the driveway and fallen leaves.

Mine is probably my mattock. When digging clay soil that has compacted areas, old tree roots and unexpected treasures to discover deeper down such as bricks and old pipes, it is invaluable.
