You have to be careful that horse/cow manure is well rotted before using it. Cant remember why at this present time......there goess another senior moment!

    Hi,
It's not really a good time to be incorporating manure, just now. Fine for topdressing established plants and shrubs, but not small seedlings or small plants!
If you have lots of composting space, either mix it with your present compost,it will give it lots of umph, or stack the manure for later us.
You will find that the heap keeps sinking, just put on some more manure each time this happens.
Also keep it covered as the nutriments will leach away with rain water!
People rave about 5 to 6 year old well rotted manure,it is only of use as a soil conditioner as most of the goodness has long gone!
As for what type? both are marvellous, personally I would mix them as I stack them, best of both worlds!

    Cheers and get carting!
