I've been looking for a 6*4 shed for a while but theres sooo many places to look.

Does anyone know where one could find a decent priced shed.

    I live in Southampton.

    Cheers

look in your local directory for a local saw mill/ fenceing maker. A local sawmill will be about 30 % cheaper than say B&Q or online and better quality.

    Hi Adam,

I have recently signed up to the local freecycle group you could ask for one for free. Its wortha try, although I am still waiting for my free greenhouse.

I agree with spud, also how about used? set up a search on ebay for secondhand sheds or look through your local small ads.

Another choice is a metal shed. I needed a large one and found them to be about half the price of wooden ones.

This is a Yardmaster. The light comes through clear panels in the roof. They don't come with a floor.

I got a cheap metal shed from B&Q a couple of year ago, they are very good value size for size compared to wood. Trouble is the metal is paper thin and bends/dents really easily. It took quite a while to build as well, like a giant meccano kit, not as quick as a wooden shed. The other downside with my metal shed is condensation in the winter, the roof inside is dripping sometimes whereas my old wooden shed never suffers from that, so I don't store anything that dislikes the damp in it.

Not sure if the Yardmaster is better quality than my cheapo.

I got a shed last year from Foster Fencing in Romsey (they deliver to Southampton). Not the cheapest, but not expensive and good quality. They will also modify the basic build to suit your requirements (eg I had an extra window added)

I got mine earlier this year from here - www.shedstore.co.uk
Just make sure you get the preservative to paint on and its worth while (at least for the one I got) doubling up on the floor joists
