    Hi All

I still use a very limited amount of pellets but it is certainly worth a quick trip outside with a torch befoer you go to bed, you will be amazed at how many you will see and the damage on plants all makes sense.

Organic and any dead slugs & snails make for a good feast for early birds on the lawn, just got in from another trip outside and must have rid the garden of at least 10 more and no pesticide used, just be careful that any that are damaged with pellets are not left available for hedgehogs or birds.

Just after a shower is a great time to go out Slugging.

I do believe my neighbours will know for sure that I have totally lost it if they find me wandering round my garden in the dark with a torch....though a small price to pay for getting rid of the slugs and snails.

I'd be happy to put them out for the birds to eat but won't the little beggers escape off the bird table before the birds get there. There is no way I can kill them first though.

We've a small "frog pond," there's always frogs in the garden (or in my koi pool sump!) They must eat the little critters as we never see a snail or a slug.

I squash them first, when I had a broken leg I found the crutches really useful

I hate slugs and snails but I can't bring myself to kill them, so I'm stuck with them. At the weekend I was sitting outside and every now and then there was an audible 'tock' as a snail fell through the air and landed on a flowerbed. I'm convinced the wretched things have learnt to parachute.

I have been using beer which seems a waste of a good beer but it does work. I read that using a sachet of yeast in water with sugar will have the same effect and is cheaper.

I dispose of them in the green wheely bin. They have plenty to eat in there.

I'm handpicking mine at night with a torch (my neighbours already know I am crazy, I've got nothing to lose!) and then stick them overnight in a bucket with cheap supermarket lager. Basically because I know they like lager so at least they drown happy. Then I feed them to the birds the next morning.

I'm getting around 10-20 slugs a night but the numbers seem to be going down so I am hoping that my methods are having some effect....

And the birds get a boozy breakfast. They probably think you've gone all Worral-Thompson on them and started marinading your bird food!

We have loads of trouble with snails. I've never seen anything like it. Fingers crossed it doesn't seem so bad this year – I think we seriously dented the garden population last year.

I would go out collecting after a nice thunderstorm and at times I would regularly get over a 100. It was obscene. This year is a lot better – lots of baby snails around so I make sure I get those. I have this amazing piece of kit that has literally revolutionsed my snail world – a litter picker.

and we've also created some snail cloches and they've worked a treat.

We spend a serious amount of our garden time trying to outwit them – we've used organic pellets (we have a lot of birds visit our garden so anything chemical is a defininte no no) but I can honestly say nothing is better than getting out there and handpicking the blighters – especially after a downpour.
