    Hello all

I have a 'hydrangea petiolaris' (thanks for identifying it for me) that is growing up a fence panel in the back garden.

I am planning on replacing the fence panels down that side with new gravel boards and panels and was wondering when the best time would be as I need to prune the 'hydrangea petiolaris' away from the panel in order to replace it.

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

I pruned my climbing hydrangea a couple of weeks ago, although I did take off some of this year's flowers as I left it too late :heehee:

Climbing Hydrangea is just flowering now - or should be soon. It would be best to wait until the flowers have faded before deciding to chop it :)

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

So, it would be alright to prune it once the flowers have faded?

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

Take care of the root while you work on the fence - cut just above a node, and you will see plenty of new growth :)
