I think the best value purchase I made this year was Cosmos.

I bought 2 packs of 4 plants from a Nursery for £2.00 per pack in April.
They have been flowering consistantly since May and still prolific in late September.
The non-stop Begonias, Alstomeria and bedding Dahlias have also done well.

Anyone else well pleased with specific plants

Yep, the free seeds I get from Amateur Gardening Magazine, my free Aster, Rudbeckias. Asters, and Dahlias are still going strong.:D:thumbsup:

I bought a Lobelia valida 'Delft Blue' from a carboot at the end of July for 75p; it's was just starting to flower then and it's only just going over now and it has an amazing sweet scent too :thumb:

I've also picked up Tropical Hibiscus for 25p, Dahlia's for between 50p and £1 to name just a couple :thumb:

My non-stop begonias have been marvelous this year too, needing no attention. The bedding dahlias have been great but just need a little bit of dead heading.

The best has been the Nemesia Wisley Vanilla, it has filled the garden with scent and has profusely flowered all summer and is still going strong. Had to move it away from the patio area because Mrs JWK found the smell over-powering in the evenings.

The strongest growing and flowering has been a pink Verbena I was given for free at one of the show gardens at the Hampton Court Flower Show.

A variegated leaf fuschia I bought from a car boot sale in the spring for £1.50. I produced more plants from cuttings. :)

The plant i bought, within this last year, that would come into this category is a Ceanothus.

Ceanothus 'zanzibar' is a variegated variety and is supposed to be a bit 'difficult' - or so i've been told by various people.
It has however sailed through the minus 12 winter and then again through the early bad drought and now the poor summer ..... it's doing marvellously - so this is definately my Best Value For Money plant this year :D

My local homebase usually has a massive selection of sickly plants at reduced prices. Picked up a golden thyme for 20p. It had been overwatered but put it in a really dry bed and it's good as new now

The best value plants from seed this year , the Cannas have been stunning and still looking good. Salvia hummingbird and Thunbergia blushing and salmon shades all very pretty and good performers :dbgrtmb:
Best plug plants , Sunpatiens , a variety of New Guinea impatiens , a great performer in containers - all my other Busy Lizzies succumbed to the mold
