Hi :) I am looking for a Runner Bean variety with a good flavour, many beans nowadays seem to taste of very little.
I am not concerned about getting a heavy crop, flavour is the most important consideration.
    Thank you :)

I grow Borlotti beans and Blue Lake. I agree that some of the dwarf french beans can be "delicate" (ie they don't taste of much!)

Hi Prastio :) thank you for your reply. I have just realised that what I call 'Kidney Beans ' other people call 'Runner Beans ', I guess it is a regional thing.

Sorry for the confusion, I am looking for a tasty variety of Runner Beans. I think a lot of the present day varieties are grown for cropping abilities rather than taste.

Megan go for an old variety, such as Scarlet Emperor. Of the more modern varieties I prefer Enorma, big, stringless and tasty.:thumb:

Planting different varieties together is a sure fire way of getting a colourful display.

My mother always plants on the basis of what colour flowers they produce !!

Scarlet emperor is my choice this year, and i will also be planting Blue Lake(climbing french bean) and Borlotti beans, together with climbing peas !
