I have sprayed Bordeaux mixture on my aubergines as it looked like some of them were going a bit mouldy.

The mix itself just seems to have coalesced into big gobbets of blue stuff all over the plants. Looks a bit unsightly but will it do the job? and will the blue deter the bees who still have a bit of work to do I think......

Some fruit is starting to set.

I have given the plants a good prune - especially the big leaves and centre of the plant to get more air in.

I have no experience of aubergines or bordeaux mixture really.

Grateful for any tips and experience........

You need to spray underneath the leaves as much as possible, and any mouldy areas give them a really good spray. I'm not sure Bordeaux mixture will help much on Aubergines anyway, it's really for use on potatoes/tomatoes against blight. It will have a limited effect on other fungal diseases but you might be better just picking off the mouldy leaves and keeping the humidity lower (open vents all the time if in a greenhouse for example)

Bordeaux mixtures is Copper sulphate mixed with lime. It is a general purpose fungicide for all plants as long as they do not react badly to the lime content. It was developed for use on Grape vines. Some Apple varieties are lime shy. I use the mixture on many plants. It sounds as if you have made too strong a solution. Try a weaker one next time.

Oh right - I was just following the instructions on the bottle. Maybe I sprayed too much on. Certainly I don't think I focussed as much on the underside like JWK suggested. Anyway - the aubergines seem to be OK this morning so I'll keep an eye out. :ThankYou:
