Best way to remove scale insects?

I've just discovered scale insects on one of my weeping willows. The plant seems unaffected, but they are at the sticky white stage (presume that means they have laid eggs... yuk!). More than anything, I don't want them to spread to my other plants, and specifically my larger (beautiful) weeping willow, which currently shows no signs of infestation.
What's the best way to get rid of them, please?
Edited to add, they are cottony maple scale insects. Have googled, but still uncertain how best to get rid of them, and make sure they don't spread to my other plants.
Also edited to add, I don't want to harm any bees! From what I've read, systemic pest control is out!

The best way to get rid is to crush them with your fingers against the branches, it is a pretty messy job but has to be done.
I get them on my Grapevine occasionally..........no chemicals.
