Hi all, it may not seem necessary with this current warm spell, but no doubt there might be a light frost or two in store for us yet before summer truely arrives.

The question is which websites do you guys use, if any?

Which ones do you find the most accurate for us gardeners, especially with frost forecasts given how well things are shooting up in the garden..?

    Hello Bilbo
I have tried a lot of websites , the Meteo Group one IMHO is by far the best.:dbgrtmb: I can't understand why they differ so much , as they all collate the weather from the same sources. I found the BBC weather site next to useless by the way , it always gave the gloomiest synopsis possible.

City weather: The weather for Derby, United Kingdom.

Thanks Harry and Fidgetsmum for the introductions. I have been using the BBC site and my minimums have been quite a bit colder than they said. So I will compare it with the others.

I have set my weather page as my home page. So it comes up many times a day even if I don't ask for it. That way I tend not to forget to look at it.

I sometimes use Metcheck but it has been offline a few times recently so I've started to use

Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground

which is a network of personal weather stations, I find it's the best one for local forecastings, plus you can look back at the previous days (weeks, months, years) data.

          I use uk.weather.com

It is reasonably acurate and you can get it to give hourly forecasts for the next 36 hours or a not particularly accurate 10 day forecast.

I use metcheck and it predicts a frost tonight !!!
Looks like the poly tunnel is going to be very crowded later.

Why not go straight to the Met office? It's the one I use, is usually accurate (as much as they can be!) and I can link to it on my phone. Works brilliantly for me:)

Metcheck has a Gardeners Page (currently showing "Data not currently available" :(

Metcheck.com - Global Weather Forecasts - [Updated on 11 April 2011 at 10:00] - Weather Feeds - Live Data - Long Range Weather Forecasts

which used to be handy for Frost checking IIRC

Like JWK I use Weather Underground to find people near me and look back at when their last frost was in previous years etc.

Would be handy if they had a texting service when a local system went "frost critical", and a means of saying "I've done my frost protection tonight" - they you could get a text at 1am to tell you your Spuds were about to die :)
