Despite this year being the worst I can remember for sunshine I have had my best Tomatoes and Peppers ever in over ten years.

I have no idea why, as these generally require a good sunny Summer.

All I can put it down to is that for the first time this year I planted both in compost with added John Innes.

I used Westland multipurpose with added John Innes from Homebase.

Crazy I know but it must have made the difference. ;)

Anyway here are a couple of pics which I wouldn't have imagined could be true given the hideous Summer this year.

    Dan. ;D

funnily enough, I'd say that despite the wilt etc....I had loads of red tomatoes this year. more then I have had before, I don't know if that is down to me taking a bit more care or the stop/start weather we had.
Had plenty of chillies too but not a singel solitary bit of the broccoli....the monster munch machines had that lot.

I've had the most toms I've ever had this year but that's not saying alot as i usually just have one or two on my front room windocil and actually put a few out this year :) peppers are still coming on a treat, not bad to say I don't eat them, there just for my lad :)

True super, despite the lousy summer I had two good crops (early and late) of Gardeners Delight and Sungold but won't bother with Black Cherry again.
