Not sure if this should be on the Muppet show...Mrs H nipped into B and Q this morning to see what Venetain blinds were available . You know quality / price / size etc . There were non on display due to being removed as a health and safety hazard ! I presume down to child strangulation risks.
Luckily , I can still buy a 4 foot logging axe and chainsaw , and run amok up and down the aisles if the mood takes me

A couple of years ago, Sure Start arranged for someone to come round to do a professional assessment of our house for child safety (it was offered to us, and we accepted, they didn't try to force it on us or anything:) ).

A chap came, and put locks on the kitchen cupboards, fitted safety gates on the stairs, little rounded things on a sharp corner of a cupboard, and some gadget that holds the strings of the blinds right up out of the way. When doing the latter, he told wife of some very unpleasant statistic about the number of kids killed or nearly killed by strangulation from the strings of blinds.

We have just had some fitted in our conservatory (29th Jan), from the 1st Feb hey had to be fitted with winders for the cords by law. We didn't want them and as we were two days before didn't have them but they drape down to the floor so perhaps they would look better with the winders. The stores have to cover themselves and obey the Law I suppose as these tragic accidents have happened but as you say there are so many other dangerous items in a store like B&Q.
