Beyond the garden can be at most times more interesting than my garden and i tend to wander quite a long way along the river,..sometimes on the river as well,..some images to begin.

The long walk with the canal on the right and at the end of the road the river,..no cars are allowed on this road unless its a fishing competition.

@Victoria ,..ah yes very quiet around here,..i seldom meet anyone when along the river which is a good thing in some ways as the wildlife are not disturbed and they can be seen in the same spot next day,..blue skies you say,..always welcome alas not today more like the last image i will post today,..that was captured just after seven.

Not a very lucky Water Hen below,..she built a nest then the water dropped leaving the nest
approx 60 cm above the water.
        IMG_3197.JPG

Then she built a second nest,..but the water rose and flooded it,..eventually she decided to build on the shore though well hidden.

Thank you my friend for sharing such great photos. What a great and wonderful privilege to have such so close.

I am not ony interested in gardening but als many aspects of life. Perhaps my other favourite medicine. Today so many folk are being addmitted to hospitals and visiting their GP's wondering what's wrong with them. It's mind blowing just how many have become victims of todays rat-race style of living. Oh! for those days of yester-year, as depicted in old prints etc. The harvest, where despite the hardships of the day, folk all joined in. Nowadays, does anyone actually take a meal break? Today it's mobile phone, laptop, subway and a coke. That is all consumed on the hoof.

If only folk would. Stop. Stand and stare, and actually take time out to enjoy more of the natural world. Tis' true. I get bouts of moodyness, up's and down's. Then I love toget amongst forest trees. For astart the air is cleaner, so I can breathe easia and relax. Then my thoughts cause me to compare myself to the trees around me.. They are firm but flexible. Am I like that. Perhaps my way of life is firm, but I may not be so flexible. I need to relax and consider alternatives. Truly there ios so much out there for us. So take a venture outside the garden gate.

@Mike Allen ,..thank you Mike,..i have lived here for about 25 years,..did a lot of globe trotting starting with Belgian Congo in the 1960's then Cyprus,..Lebanon and Palestine in the 1970's,..then itchy feet had me wandering through 24 Countries until i realized what i was looking for was right under my nose,..where you see in the images posted.

Its a quiet life and very relaxing and enjoyable,..now and then i go to Town as they say and mix quite well,.. but i would prefer the outdoors it can be quite an adventure.

Lovely photos again Philip. And what is the name of your walking companion?

I live in the country 'no campo' amidst primarily orange groves and the peace is wonderful. I never have nor could live in a city.

tzrqcw4vuy5a.jpg @Victoria ,..living in the countryside it becomes like an extension to ones own garden,..like you its the place for me,..i can get a train to the East Coast or the West Coast from here and be there in an hour or two,..ah i am always fascinated in Orange Groves and Vineyards they are unlike Orchards we have,..its the tropical feeling though Grapes are grown in England its not the same feeling.

Ah my walking companion is 'Foxy Molly' a Terrier,..its her that forces me out on days i am feeling lazy,..i can let her off the lead in the wide open spaces,..she loves to run,..she is 5 years old and came from a rescue kennels,..her previous owner developed Asthma and also had an allergy to dog hair and so Foxy Molly had to be put outside,..eventually as she wouldn't settle outside she was put up for re homing,..on the day i went to collect her she had being attacked in the Kennels by a bigger dog and was in a very bad state they were reluctant to let me have her pointing out there would be big Vet bills,..i insisted on taking her as she would heal quicker in my home as compared to being around so many other dogs,..though there was something else,..i had my dog of 13 years put to sleep the previous week,..her name was also Molly,..i had to get her,..so a void was filled quickly as well.

                      Foxy Molly.
