Read this rather scathing attack earlier on the springwatch message board.

    QUOTE

No you're not! I started a thread on this last night but lots of responses were 'turn it off if you don't like him' and 'springwatch wouldn't be the same without him' - it would be greatly IMPROVED is my opinion and those who say it wouldn't be the same have no imagination. I don't want to turn it off as I want to watch the wildlife. The only way I can watch Springwatch is to video the whole show and then watch it using the fast forward whenever BO appears - its astonishing when viewing this way how much time he is on screen compared to the wildlife. If Kate and Simon, who are exccellent, can happily do voiceovers while we watch the wildlife, why do we have to see so much of Bill at the expense of the wildlife? And why was he allowed to handle that tawny owlet on the first programme? He is just so egocentric and more interested in himself than the wildlife, and he is definitely no expert. Simon King has spent his whole life filming wildlfe and is an expert and so enthusiastic. So who chose Bill to host this 'The Bill Oddie Show with short clips from Springwatch'???

    UNQUOTE

Anybody out there agree/dissagree with these views?

    Evening, pip.

I unfortunately have not been able to watch it because I can't find my TV with all the melee going on here.

    Doesn't sound very pleasant ....

Good morning LOL, not a very nice thing to say but his antics can be a bit much sometimes, I said to my wife before the series came on that if he behaves like he did in autumnwatch I would reconsider watching at all.

I have pasted the site in case you wanted to catch up. A word of warning, the webcams are a bit poor and the message board is hard to keep up with.

    Catch you later.

Yes he does spoil the show he has annoying habits looking off camera when Kate is talking scratching his face, rolling his tongue over his lips. To me Simon is the bees knees as a wildlife presenter

I like Bill Oddie! It is Kate who annoys me, she seems to have little natural history knowledge whatsoever.

I haven't watched it because I can't stand the innane juevenile chatter between both of them, they spoilt last years. It seemed like they were presenting a children's programme, S.K is good though.

Thank you for that, pip. I had a bit of a problem working my way around but I am a bit of a technophobe. I just loved the journey of the little chicks and what a journey it was!

I quite like Bill. Sure he can be a bit silly but he does know his stuff, well about birds anyway. He was perhaps better when he did some programmes that were specifically about birds. He is naturally enthusiastic and I think that shows, I can put up with his faults.
On Gardeners World I am sure Carol Klein gets on peoples' nerves at times but she does know her stuff and gets enthusiastic. I got annoyed with that series she did on vegetables but that was the fault of the producer, who did not use her properly. When she was raving about the taste of those vegetables like she does I said to my wife " Do you think she makes a noise like that when she is having sex?"
I wonder whether there is a bit of fault with the producer here, not using the presenters to their strengths. Dumbing down anyone?
