Meet little Billy No Mates. This litle chap spends hours every day sitting on the ground in front of a mirror in a narrow border in the garden. He's fairly tame and lets me get within about five feet before hiding in a clump of daffs or flying into a plum tree or on top of a wall. As soon as I retreat a bit he flutters down in front of the mirror again.
He just seems to spend most of the day sitting in the same place. Really strange behaviour as we've got quite a lot of sparrows in the garden and they are a really gregarious bunch.

:) Hello Billy No Mates ... you're gorgeous ... :luv:

Why do you have a mirror in your garden, Dave? An ex-colleague of mine who has now bought a place here but lives in Kent has a huge mirror in their garden there on a wall beyond an arch to reflect and make that area of the garden larger (although it's a large garden).

We've got two big mirrors one is circular about 4' diameter and mounted on a tall brick wall and reflects the shrubs and it looks like you are looking into a tunnel. The one in the photo is about 3' square and in a small border at the end of a path facing our kitchen window it reflects apple and pear trees. Both help brighten and extend the garden.

Great shots Dave, not to keen on mirrors in the garden I took one down after a couple of birds flew into it and broke their necks usually fledgelings learn the hard way.

I wonder if he is some sort of Dorian Gray?

I love the detailed first shot, Dave :gnthb:
