Sorry, no pic. I came downstairs this morning and as I stood at my hallway window a small greenish bird alighted on the buddlia in front of the window. It stared at me for a few seconds before flying off.

I had the feeling it was a warbler (no idea why, I've never seen one) but I can't find any in my bird books exactly like it. It doesn't help that the bird was in moult, so looking scruffy.

I don't remember any markings, just a dullish browning greenish colour, a thin tail and a straight beak. The wings were covering the breast, so I didn't see what colour that was.

And no, it wasn't a greenfinch.

Could it have been a Chiffchaff? Wood Warbler? Those have straight beaks.

A siskin perhaps? Have a look in 'What's buzzing or flying near you' thread, you might see it there. :)

It could have been, scruffy plumage normally means moulting or a juvenile, doesnt it?

I did see later on yesterday, a warbler (not scruffy) in a tree in the churchyard next door. It was flitting about and constantly bobbing its tail. it looked similar to the scruffy one I saw, tho.

Wagtails bob their tails, could it have been a grey wagtail you saw?
