    Hi all,

This year, I have sown some seeds suitable for outdoor growing directly into some small plug trays and left them outside on the decking.
I went out this morning to give em a little watering and the gits have been at them I'm sure.
There are holes as if been 'pecked' by the little blighters.
Can't really tell if there are any survivors yet, but have put the trays in the greenhouse now.
Didn't do that originally as I have a very demanding 15 month old boy and my wife is the one who works (although looking after the little terror is the hardest job I've EVER had). So haven't really got the time this year to give the garden my attention 100%.
What do you think the chances are that there are some survivors??
Will I still need to acclimatise my plants before planting out in May??
Do you think I can get away with leaving the seedlings in the plugs until May?? Or will they need potting up??
I say this because I bought some plugs online last year and they arrived in the same size plugs as my seeds, so assumed this was ok.

    Thanks for reading

Put the toddler in a play pen and let him watch you gardening.Wont be long till he wants his own little patch.

Bashy, in answer to the question, could there be survivors, the only way to answer that is to leave them alone and see if any germinate. The other questions don`t apply until you know if any germinate. I`d resow them to be on the safe side, and protect them from mice.:thumb:

Put them somewhere out of reach of the child too!

You haven't said what seeds you've sown. Some can be sown in situ without having to start off in seed trays.

thanks for the replies. and yes, they are of reach of the terror!!
    the seeds sown are:
    Carrot-Parmex (container variety)
    Sunflower-Giants
    Wildlife attracting
    Sunflower-Total eclipse
    Lavatera
    Godetia
    Nigella
    Zinnia
    Cornflower
    Nemophilia Insignia

I know some can be sown in situ, but still not sure where some are going.
If I can rescue some, could they remain in the plug trays (40 cells per tray)?

    cheers
