Should my black bamboo hang over so much, not concerned if its ok as it sits next to my pond and gives good shade. But just worried it may be missing something, its under a tree from nextdoors garden, though it might be lack of light from above, also when it rains its almost in the pond with the weight of the water.

ps, i know i need to do some weeding in the blue pot!

Mine hangs over too, it's next to a 5ft fence. When it rains it really droops over, I dont think they are totally upright like my other green ones, but they are planted with more space around them.

Tropical, when i see the black at garde centres in pots they appear to be more upright.

Mines over 7ft tall may be we planted too close to the fence? plus the wind blows over the fence pushing it over more.

If you rake the side shoot/leaves off the culms it shows more cain and keeps them stronger, but they look OK to me.

Waco, do you mean cut the small weedy type canes off, which is what i do and leave the strong tall new growth?

on the culm below, I have taken off its side the leaves to reveal the beauty of the cane.

I also thin out the weedy canes to base level.
