Hey, so later in the summer of last year I planted some Black-eyed Susans. They did really well, but as the summer came to an end I didn't do anything for them to prepare for fall/winter.
I live in NYC and our winter was pretty bad.
Will these Black-eyed Susans grow back? Should I do anything for example cut them back for them to grow again?

    Thanks

Welcome to GC Headcreeps! :) A number of plants are known as Black Eyed Susan, do you mean Thunbergia? If so, they are classed as annuals and will only grow for one year and then die off, sorry!

I don't believe they are thunbergia, they don't grow as a vine. And when I purchased them I was told they were perennials

Thunbergia are pretty easy to raise from seed. I suspect what you had was some kind of Rudbeckia, though.

Hi Headcreeps - and a warm welcome to the forum. In Britain we call Thunbergia alata Black Eyed Susan, which is technically a perennial, but will die overwinter if the temperature goes under 7C (46F). So as Sheal says we treat them as annuals.

But I believe, as Sheal also said, that in the US you call Rudbeckia hirta this. With luck this should come back for you. Its reported as hardy down to zone 3 - but I know that New York can get pretty cold.
