We were watching a program the other night about black squirrels.
I thought it was a joke , thought they had been caught and coloured black.
Today we have had one of these strange squirrels in our garden.
I was to late with my camera but it is now at the ready.
    Have anyone else seen any.
With a bit of luck I might get a photo to show you all.

I haven't seen any, but have heard of them. I think that Canada's most common squirrel is black, though maybe this one was just the 'black sheep' of the family (like the odd black rabbit you get around)! My parents had an albino squirrel frequent their bird table for years.

There's a BBC news column about them here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/4365002.stm) it says that there more common than albino squirrels although i am unlikely to see either as albino red squirrels are almost unheard of in the UK (i live on the isle of wight)

It's strange we haven't seen a squirrel for ages in our garden ,after buying a sonic thingy and a heron water shooter and putting mothballs round the garden to keep them out. :D

It was my husband that noticed it while sitting in the conservatory yesterday at about 4.30.
It was sitting on the fence at the end of the garden.
It was small but just the same as a normal squirrel but very dark.
If it wasn't black it was very dark brown.
I'm out most of the day but I'm now on a mission to photograph this squirrel. :D

No house work done over the week end again.

After not seeing squirrels in our garden for years, last year two, sometime three, often show up and one is them is quite black.

I've not been able to get a good pic of them because we have mosquito netting on the outside of all of our windows. So if it isn't the glare of the window spoiling the pic, it is the netting.

I have just read that link, Kalmia. Ours is definitely a black red squirrel.
