Could somebody please confirm for me a black stork seen flying over Chorley and surrounding area on saturday evening. My wife and I were at the back door when I pointed out the large black bird approaching us. It had a large wingspan and outstretched neck with trailing legs. I know these birds are rare in Britain but a sighting was confirmed over Leyland(5 miles down the road) a few days earlier. [IMG] [IMG]

I can't help there but few take a detour on migration so it could be particularly as you say one has been recently reported and it had trailing legs. [IMG]

Thanks for the reply strongylodon, started to think maybe I had imagined it, although the sighting has not yet been confirmed your comments ad weight to the possibility of it having been one.
